Snap Peas for our Sweet P

The person who likes veggies the least in this house (I'll give you a hint- it's not me) has recently become panicked that the babe isn't eating enough from that particular food group.  So, tonight he brought home some snap peas (random!) and gave it a go with our girl.

They were a hit.  He was so proud.

My weekend was filled with lots of mini sweets.

Testing out the new grass.

Mini S'more Cups with Chocolate Ganache

Yep, this is the second s'more inspired recipe this summer :)  S'mores are one of my favorite treats and with no campfire in sight a girl's gotta improvise!  I have to say, these mini s'more cups are even better than the s'more pops.  There's a little more graham cracker going on in this recipe.

Everyone know's you've gotta do a little grocery shopping before you start making sweets.  The babe had a party in her crib last night so she is rocking her oversize shades and messy bed head look.

First up- the chocolate ganache.  It's so easy to make even though it sounds fancy smancy.  Pour your chocolate chips into a bowl and set aside.  In another bowl heat the heavy whipping cream and butter.  I just did this part in the microwave in 30 second intervals.  Once the cream and butter are nice and hot (not quite boiling) add the mixture to the chocolate chips.

Whisk into chocolatey perfection.  Go ahead and stick the ganache in the fridge while you work on the graham cracker crust.

I put the graham crackers in the food processor and blended them up to nice tiny crumbs. Mix the sugar and graham cracker crumbs with the melted butter to make the crust.  Push the crust into a cup shape.  Bake the crusts at 350 for about 4-5 minutes.  They should be slightly browned on the edges.  Take them out and fill the crust with chocolate ganache then top with half of a marshmallow.  Back in the oven they go!

Don't forget to put your oven mitt on.

It's hard work getting the oven mitt on with two crazy doggies trying to get in on the action.  They must have thought this cupcake mitt was the real deal because they were going crazy for it.  (What? Don't you make bake with no pants on?)

My helper decided she'd rather just stick to the grocery shopping and let me handle the hot oven.

Back to the s'mores.  Yum, yum, yum.  Leave them in the oven until the marshmallows start puffing up.  Once they are nice and puffy, turn the broiler on and brown them to your liking.  A marshmallow takes on a whole new life once it's heated and browned.

Let them cool and pop them out of the pan.  Getting them out of the pan was the hardest part.  I think if you make sure you add enough butter to the crust they will set up better and not be such a pain to get out.  I'm sure me being impatient had nothing to do with it.

Another super easy and yummy s'more recipe that doesn't require a campfire :)

Enjoy!

Ice Cream for Breakfast

It's perfectly okay to have ice cream for breakfast when you're on vacation.  If you ask me, anyways.

Despite the face, she loved the ice cream and kept going back for more :)

diy: Chevron Onesie

I stumbled upon this tutorial on Pinterest and thought it would be a perfect baby shower gift for a friend expecting a baby boy.  There are so many super cute things you can make for baby girls, and this was the first diy that I thought was perfect for a boy.  I fell in love with the chevron stripes and also made a mustache version.  The mustache version was ready to go for the shower... BUT this chevron was not.  :)  The baby boy is now a month old and I'm finally delivering it tomorrow.  This is how most of my projects go :)  Luckily for me, he was an early babe and is still pretty tiny so it should still fit.

Cute right!?!

The hardest part is getting the onesie positioned in the sewing machine since it's so tiny.  Other than that- super easy.

Happy diy-ing!

Weekend in Sunriver

Last weekend we headed to Sunriver.  Since it was hot, hot, hot we decided to take the babe to the new aquatic park.  I'm pretty sure every other family in Sunriver decided to go to the park as well.  Packed!  The little lady and I found a nice quiet little place in the pool and basked in the sunshine :)  She has the most ADORABLE tan lines to prove it.  There is something so stinkin' cute about a babe with tan lines.  And yes, she was wearing lots of sunscreen.

Our pool time started a little like this... but she warmed up to the not so warm water and was back to being a little fishy.

She didn't get too far from her trusty ball.

Maybe next time we'll venture into water deeper than 6 inches :)

Aaaaand We're Off!

We're off to Sunriver today for a couple days of fun in the sun.  I am SO EXCITED to take the babe to the new waterpark!  The bikini babe is back! :)  I'm sure I'll have PLENTY of fun photos from our stay.

Happy Sunday!

Showering the Bride to Be!

This weekend my Mom, Grandma and I hosted a shower for my cousin's soon to be wife.  She's one of the sweetest people I know and I'm so happy for her!  As usual there were lots of laughs and delicious food :)

14 Months!

Our Sweet P is 14 months old today!  SEVEN new teeth decided to show up this month.  She has a serious love affair with the ipad and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (which totally saved us on our recent road trip).  Fresh blueberries from Nana and Papa's are a favorite of hers right now.  She was in her first wedding.  We've definitely hit the stage where she's acquiring lots of bumps and bruises.  She's loving playing peekaboo with her Daddio and especially loves to get spooked.  The pageant wave has been mastered and she especially likes to wave to strangers :)

It really feels like she's becoming a little person and not a baby anymore... does that even make sense??  :) You can tell she understands things you say to her and I'm sure it won't be long before she's talking back to us.  Speaking of talking- her favorite word is dog.  That girl can spot a dog from a mile away.

We're lucky to have a happy and healthy little lady.

USA!

The little lady has been rocking her USA diapers lately, 'cause she's patriotic like that.  We love us some gymnastics and swimming around here!
