Bikini Babe

There is something so cute about a bambino in a bikini.  Especially when a butt cheek hangs out. :)

hangin' with the boys

We spent the weekend in Bend hanging out at my grandparents place.  On Saturday I headed out with the boys to shoot trap.  Lots of fun, LOTS of laughs and lots of bruised shoulders.

p.s. no birdies were harmed during our outing :)

My Happy Place

This last weekend we made the drive over to Eastern Oregon  for a 50th wedding anniversary party.  The party was in Vale which happens to be right near where my parents grew up, a tiny town called Harper.  This was where I spent my summers growing up going back and forth between my Dad's parents farm and my Mom's parents ranch.  It really is my happy place.  I have so many great memories of the adventures my brother and I shared there.  Both sets of grandparents have moved so it's always nice to get a chance to get to go back.  It's crazy how much things have changed yet not really changed at all.

Did I mention this was the babe's first (long) road trip?  Thank goodness for the ipad!

Little Valley

Back behind these fields there's a pond that we spent many hours fishing at.  We also "helped" my grandma move water in the field behind this front one.

We stopped by one of their neighbors and the babe got to hang out with the CUTEST mini donkeys.  The husband may come home to a pair of donkeys in our back yard one of these days. :)

These two were so sweet with P.

I think she needs a couple of these under the Christmas tree this year!

Roadtrippin'

Sometimes after being cooped up in a car for two days you just need to run around without your pants on.

More on our adventure tomorrow :)

One of THOSE Days...

Today was just one of those days.  I spent half of the night up with a sicky babe (she's working on 4 teeth right now) and the rest of the day pretty much went downhill from there.

My computer at work crashed... which I only realized after 2 hours on the phone with tech support.  Lucky for me the lovely tech guy was totally annoyed with me right off the bat.  Awesome.  Ran out to Nana and Papa's to pick up the sicky babe and rushed back into town to pick up a set of plans for work only to find the damn lady at the print shop went home without printing my plans as promised.  Double Awesome.  This pissed off Momma drove home and started baking the first batch of 100 cupcakes.  Next up, feeding the babe who didn't want to eat - anything.  Not even a banana, her fave.  So, I proceeded to bake, work on the HUGE pile of laundry in our closet and clean up our disaster of a house all while entertaining a whiny babe.  Finally, after an hour of trying to get Miss P to sleep... success!  Aaaaaand back to baking and laundry.  Nothing like getting ready to go out of town while the Mister is in VEGAS for work.  (Ha, work.  Likely story right??  No really, he's there for Blazers summer league.)  Feeling sorry for me yet?  Come on, join my pity party!

Then I remembered today is the first day of the Nordstrom anniversary sale.  Turns out all I needed was a little 1am shopping to make it better.  Retail therapy works every time.

She agrees.

diy: Blanket... So Easy Even A Baby Could Make It!

Okay, so maybe a baby couldn't make it.  The whole part where there's a machine operated needle should probably rule out any baby participation.  My sewing skills are extremely basic, as in, 8th grade sewing class basic.  I wanted to make a special blanket for the babe's Nana but I was freaked out about screwing her blanket up so first I made one for Sweet P.  I found the cutest fabric and couldn't pass it up.  (Side note: There's a ton of really cute girl type fabrics and not very many options for boys... basically someone I know needs to have a girl so I can outfit them with all the blankets they would ever need!)  She's getting too big for a lot of her baby blankets so I made her a nice big one.  After getting that one all finished up (and doing a photo shoot) I whipped out the next one... and they BOTH turned out pretty darn good.  Proof that it's stupid easy.

I used this tutorial I found on Pinterest... she does a great job explaining the steps for the sewing challenged like myself.

Love this fabric!  Very Missoni like.

Right after I finished it up I started to bring it over to the babe and she grabbed it and rubbed the soft fabric up against her face and then gave it a love... no joke.  I mean, that makes me want to make her 1,000 blankets!  Fast forward 15 years and this will probably still work on me!

Right about this time Daddio pulled in the drive way.  We were so busted!  Hanging out in the front yard with no pants on!

She gives him the best "welcome home" ever!

Aren't our hydrangeas gorgeous?!  I love them!  Too bad the damn things are full of spiders...

Kickballers

A couple weeks ago my Momma told the husband that she would play on his team for a Blazers kickball tournament.  I'm pretty sure she had every intention of backing out of the tournament... but he stuck with her and made sure she showed up to that game to show off her kicking skills.  Sometimes she just needs a little encouragement.  :)  Before we knew it she convinced our friend Bling and my Dad to play too.

Miss P helped them warm up for the first game.

I didn't get any action shots of the crew mostly because I was chasing around a certain one year old.  She is such a happy camper when she gets to hang out outside.

Our team ended up winning the mini tournament.  So proud of them!  Haha!  Kickball champs!

diy: Momma & Baby Lace Pocket Jeans

I've had a pair of jeans from high school sitting up in the top shelf of my closet for the past few years.  I've almost thrown them in the Goodwill pile a couple of times but just couldn't part with them.  They're in the perfect soft worn in condition.  Today I decided to just go for it and cut them into shorts.  What better way to give them a little update than with some lace on the pockets.  I'm love, love, loving lace right now and thought it would add a sweet girly touch to my old jeans.

Start with a pair of jeans- old or new.  Not everyone hangs on to their high school jeans (my class will be celebrating our 10 year reunion this summer!).

I picked up 1/4 yard of lace fabric at Joann's.  That set me back a whopping $1.20.  Big spender!

Trace the pockets on Heat n Bond - I traced them slightly smaller than the pocket so the lace didn't poke out over the edge.

Once I had the Heat n Bond the right size I placed it on the lace and ironed it on.  Make sure you have your iron on a non steam setting, run your iron over it for a few seconds and you should be good to go.  Cut around the outside of the paper so you have a pocket shape ready to be ironed onto your jeans.

Peel off the paper backing and place it on the pocket, lace side up.  Since the lace is "holey" (yes that's the technical term, ha!) I used an old t-shirt in between the lace and my iron.  Run your iron over for a few seconds.  You can check to make sure the lace is stuck and keep ironing until it's bonded.

And there you have it!  Next step would be to sew around the edge of the pocket.  (I hand sewed this part)

Darling!  Wanna know what's even more darling than these?  BABY lace pocket jeans!  :)  Adorableness overload!

Happy diy'ing!
